Emma Karila
The emotions evoked by the elements of nature are at the root of Emma Karila's artistic practice. Nature, as an attempt to “describe the world,” provides her with an endless source of inspiration. For the artist, the paths we take in a natural environment, sometimes stray, are connected to the paths of life and infinite trails.
As the meeting point between the outside world and our inner lives, she believes that humans have the privilege of receiving impressions from nature, which her works—between strength and fragility—come to represent. Through the materials of the different mediums she uses—clay, paint, paper, ink, bark—Emma Karila attempts to access the poetic dimension of the world.
