Coffee table Maho Stone bois brûlé

Reimagined for the 2022 Private Choice exhibition, Maho Stone revisits the original Maho table, the Maison's first piece, with a removable alpinus granite top set on a Yakisugi-burnt teak base. The contrast between the darkness of the wood and the mineral presence of the granite gives it a sculptural quality rare in contemporary furniture.

Care: Solid wood may show natural irregularities, it is not uniform, as it is a living material.

The burnt surface is achieved with a blowtorch. This is a traditional Japanese technique used to char and carbonise the wood, making it more durable. The top develops a patina over the years; this is the beauty of natural craft. Do not place hot dishes directly on the top. Avoid scratches. Wipe with a slightly damp cloth.
